I need your help guys. How much of a bad idea it is to make a road trip in late december, from Miami to NYC? My parents and I are planning to fly to Miami around dec. 20, spend a couple days with our family there and drive all the way up to NYC before New Year’s Eve. Thing is, I am not familiar with road conditions (snow, mostly) in the States that late in the year. Would you do it?
Here’s a P1 for your time.

I drove from Denver to VA at Thanksgiving a couple years ago (in 2 days). So yeah, I’d do it. Even if it snows, they keep I-95 pretty clear unless there’s a major blizzard. And in that case, you get a hotel, and it’ll be clear by morning. I used to drive between Richmond and New Jersey on weekends between Nov - April and never got stuck, and my car was awful in the snow.

Depends how bad of a winter the tri state (ny, nj, pa) get this year. If its anything like last year, its gonna be a mess

Depending on which weather prediction model you believe metro DC may or may not be a complete mess again this year. But if you stay on 95 it shouldn’t be too bad, though you may need the intervention of a higher power if NC or GA gets snow or ice.

I could be fun, but I’d give a lot of extra time in case there is a lot of snow. You may have some slow moving traffic the further north you go.

It all depends on the weather when passing through Appalachia country. If inclement, you should stop.
